Finally! Our Blank Canvas!

On Tuesday the painters came and changed this....

to this....

Our bedroom isn't small by any standard, and with other rooms (like ones guests actually see) taking priority, we never had the energy to paint it.  You might remember the house was a bit of a crayola box when we moved in, and this room was no exception.  While the 90s ivy green wasn't totally offensive, it was definitely dated and worn.  Lots of knicks in the wall, sun discoloration, and our lack of decor didn't help.  There were pelmets over the windows that were taken down before I snapped these shots and our nightstand lamps both bit it a year ago.  Poor lighting, no art, and queen sized bedding on a king sized bed.  This room needs major TLC and now we have our blank slate.  Even though we aren't in love with our furniture, we are keeping it as we can't afford to replace it and "do" the room too. Hopefully over the next few weeks well get a headboard, lamps, curtains, and bedding.   Of course we need to get some prints and art on the walls and decor back on the dressers, but luckily we have most of that. Already getting inspired!

  3. I can totally see the potential and I love that paint color! It's amazing what a little bit of paint can do! We had the opposite problem moving into our house, every single wall is builder brown... it's called "smoked trout". Seriously the worst color ever... so we are slowely working on each room. one by one!

  13. Its BM Stonington Gray. It's showing a tinge of blue in my opinion, but it's a really true gray. Might just be lighting or slate bedding playing tricks on my eyes :)

  14. Aw, thanks! I'm definitely trying to be thoughtful about our choices. I find when I take my time are really plan a room I'm much happier than when I just buy things on a whim.

  16. We are really lucky to have large bedrooms. Even Ashlynn's which I think is the smallest by sq ft, feels really spacious for "the smallest room". Definitely an upside not not having any open space /vaulted ceiling rooms downstairs.
