Bed Time, Bed Time.. #WhatDoYouSee?

Lots of books ready to read!

We are big Eric Carle fans around here,  The Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear have been some of our favorites since Ashlynn was a tiny squish. Two years and counting later, we still love our colorful classic books for both Ashlynn and Kenley and they frequently find themselves in the bedtime book rotation since they are appropriate for both kids.

Bedtime is usually one of our favorite times around here. I'm sure most can attest that the hour or two before bedtime routine kicks in can be chaos.  Attempts to cook dinner, restless kids fighting or crying... hangry, bored, and cases of the wiggles. The witching hour has seemed to outgrow infancy around here.  When dad gets home and bedtime begins with a bath everyone seems to hit a reset button.  Bubbles in the bath, brushing teeth so they "sparkle", and getting in our jammies and magically moods have been reset.

Happy campers are ready to get some last minute family bonding with bed time stories.

We pile up the books and have some family reading time.  Sometimes the girls "read" themselves before handing the books over for us to quiet them into their slumber.  It's such a great time to connect as a family while continuing to learn and use our imaginations.

Gymboree has joined with Eric Carle to bring a collection to their stores of bedtime and playtime separates inspired by his recognizable, colorful artwork.  The partnership brings two iconic, parent-trusted brands together and builds on Gymboree’s rich tradition in colorful, quality clothing that parents love and children never want to stop wearing.

To kick off the collaboration, Gymboree is hosting an Eric Carle event at all of their Gymboree stores today from 10am -12pm, that will include a story time reading of the "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and a Eric Carle themed craft.  We are heading to our local store for the event, so we'll be sure to report back the fun and hope many of you are able to take advantage of the free event too!

If you can't make the kick-off event today, don't fret!  You can check out the full clothing collection here. If you're looking for more Eric Carle fun, Gymboree will be hosting a photo contest inspired by Eric Carle’s "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See", encouraging parents to help their little ones take a picture of "what they see".

Submit a photo via Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag, #WhatDoYouSee. Open September 2nd thru 30th.

Entrants of the #WhatDoYouSee contest will have the chance of winning one of ten Eric Carle gift baskets including: A House for Hermit Crab book, a signed copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar book, figurines, stickers, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Sippy Cup, Chunky Colored Pencils, Match and Munch Game, Place Mats Book, and Stage & Play (Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) $144.99).

The winners will be announced at the end of the contest period, which is 9/30/14.

What's your favorite part of your bedtime routine?  Bubble baths, storybooks, or singing lullabies? Getting in fresh jammies and sheets?

I hope some of you are able to get to your local Gymboree's for the event!

A big thanks to Gymboree for sponsoring this post. As fans of Gymboree and Eric Carle, this collaboration was a (pajama) match made in heaven, and all opinions shared are our own!

  1. Those pajamas are adorable! The last few hours of the day are definitely the craziest but I love cuddling on the couch as a family and reading stories :)

  2. So cute! I have a wee obsession with jammies so this is only going to feed that obsession! My daughter is named Lucy and when she "reads" the book to herself (recites it from memory of course...) when she says "you see" she thinks its "Lucy"! Big Eric Carle fans over here!

  3. those jams are SO CUTE!! i love love love them. . . if lex wasn't adamant about wearing only nightgowns to bed at night id hop all over those suckers :)

  4. They have a set of polar bear jammies, you'll have to find them! I thought they might have been the cutest of the whole bunch!

  5. so funny about her love of nightgowns.I remember having a carebear one when i was little that i loved.

  6. That is the cutest and funniest thing ever. When I was little I thought errands were Erinns :)

  7. How cute are those pjs?! Love Eric Carlre, what a fun collab!! :)

  8. My daughter loves her bubble bath before bed. She goes to the bathtub a couple times a day wanting to get in so when it's finally time she's in there forever. :)
