If you've been keeping up with the summer trends, you probably noticed the major comeback of 90s - Birkenstocks, overalls, and crop tops - which oddly enough is exactly what I was wearing in my 6th grade picture.
You've probably also seen the ubiquitous prints of pineapples, watermelons, and flamingos. They are every where, and they scream summer time!
And it's quite possible that my two year old is keeping up with the trends, or she just has random toddler obsessions, but she loves flamingos! We received the Flora and the Flamingo in our holiday blogger Secret Santa exchange, and it's been one of her favorites ever since! I already raved about it's beautiful illustrations, but Ashlynn loves the dance and "story" being told (it's wordless!). The flamingos ("mingos") were one of her favorite exhibits at the zoo and she loves pointing them out when we see them in books or while shopping. Which is how I noticed this trend - they are everywhere we go!

I'm loving the crop tops on everyone else. Unfortunately baby number one ruined any chance of my mid section being in view and crop tops aren't exactly pregnancy friendly...well I suppose I'm actually on trend because everything is a crop top on me right now! And I've loved Birkenstocks since high school, still think they look like super hippie, but I love that! They go perfect with my tee shirt nd jeans outfits, more fuel for the what not to wear crew!
ReplyDeleteObsessed with all the flamingos! Not as obsessed with crop tops (not for me at least). And jcrew carrying Birkenstocks made me cringe inside!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda obsessed with all the flamingos too! Totally not obsessed with birkenstocks or overalls though!
ReplyDeleteI think you just sparked a flamingo obsession for me. LOVE all of your picks!
ReplyDeleteLove this trend...you're right! It's the perfect trend for summer!!
ReplyDeleteI think you totally need that flamingo one piece! ;) I'm loving the flamingos on baby stuff, but not so sure about mixing flamingos into my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteThat adult one piece is too much. I do love that dress from Target though for little girls.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I do rock the one piece now that I'm a mom, but i'd probably opt for the two piece instead lol. The BR tank is actually really cute, I almost got it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, they are really everywhere - even in our neighbor's lawn lol!
ReplyDeleteI totally rolled my eyes when I saw they were coming back, but I don't mind them... I actually got A little silver ones from target that look so cute. What's worse is my friend is a fashion editor in NYC and rocked the tevas! I told her we werent friends anymore.
ReplyDeleteFull disclosure, that pic from 6th grade, its a bodysuit. Like the type that had snaps on the bottom.... like what I put on my baby, ha! Closest to crop top I ever got were baby doll t's in the 90s. I do like the faux crop top look, where there is a shirt or dress attached, kwim?
ReplyDeleteI have owned so many pairs of overalls in my life, it's laughable. Short, long, blue, white, khaki, cargo, etc. I actually feel I was really in my style element in those days at like 10 and 14. If they get mainstream enough -whch I'm sure they will, I would doubt I'd be giving GAP my money once again for another pair, haha
ReplyDeleteI'm totally obsessed with it too! In fact, I'm anxiously awaiting some adorable flamingo fabric for head wraps. Can not wait. Those flamingo carters flip flops might be my favorite!

How cute is all of this stuff!! I had no idea flamingos were a thing right now. Thanks for helping me be stylish ;)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I almost picked up a pineapple dress for Ellie yesterday but ultimately chose to go with the flower one instead...if only I had known she would have been on trend. And can I please get myself another pair of birks? I loved those things!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these cute trends!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'll thank my toddler! If she wasn't constantly pointing them out I might have missed it too!
ReplyDeleteBaby swimsuits are the probably one of the cutest articles of baby clothes.. and baby shoes, and ruffly diaper covers, and rompers, and sundresses... okay, it's all cute!
ReplyDeleteTwo peas in a pod these toddlers!
ReplyDeleteThose will be awesome!
ReplyDeleteLol! Def too much for me too, but I know some people prefer the high style looks to the preppy. Ashlynn has the dress, and the Crew Cuts items are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the flamingoes too! And I actually bought that Banana tank at the outlets last week! Great minds (with great taste!) think alike! I also love the pineapples :)
ReplyDeleteCute finds - they are fun, but not quite sure I'm on board. Yet. Definitely screams summer and adorable for little girls!! I could see myself going with some of the simple/smaller pineapple prints for a shirt/tank.. Cause I'm so daring like that. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you just gave me flamingo fever! Had to get my daughter those pj's and flamingo shirt from Carters. It isn't exactly twisting my arm when it comes to buying jammies, I think I have a toddler pj addiction!
