[Little Foodie] Nummy

My last little baby is officially all grown up!  Kenley had her first "solid" over the weekend.  Homemade steamed and pureed organic sweet potatoes with a generous amount of mama's milk mixed in to make it closer to soup then actual solid.

Okay, so, she's still totally my little baby and just ten days shy of only being six months old, but man has time flown by at lightning speed the second time around!  I blame the toddler for always keeping me busy, although I'm sure my Husband would disagree as his fondness lies in the toddler stage and is pretty adverse to crying infants so he feels as if this phase is dragging.  I just can't believe we are starting to check off "firsts" for the last time from the milestone list.

Of course, with that twinge of sadness is a giant fireball of excitement for all we have to look forward to, and we haven't even hit a lot of big milestones with our first born.  Potty training, big girl beds, and two best friends who converse in full sentences, read books to each other, and brush each other's hair.  Not to mention the soccer games, first day of kindergarten, and learning to drive.

Yeah, I jumped about ten years right there.

So while, I fear these next eighteen years of my life (no doubt my favorite ones) will fly by in a blink of an eye, I know there is so much to look forward to each day.

And tomorrow it's green beans.

  1. I'm totally with your husband! Well- let's say the newborn phase is the worst for me and it only gets better! Yay solids and look how much she loves em! Go kenley!

  2. I only have one, but I felt like the infant phase went by wayyyyy too fast. (Though she had colic right up until the four month mark, so those newborn months dragged on.) But as nostalgic as I am for those infant days, every new phase has been even better than the last :) Love those pics of Kenley's first bites!! It took Kiernan way longer to get interested in solids!

  3. I agree it does get better and better, but I am a little sad that I won't get these days back. The gummy smiles, the radiation of love when I enter the room, cuddling together. Babies are only babies for a year and it's going too fast!

  4. Girlfriend has been smacking her lips for weeks when I'm eating, I think I probably waited longer than she liked, but I try to follow the 6m guidelines. I feel like 0-6 went by a lot slower with my first, but by the time they are walking you are like... wait, what?

  5. Yay for eating solids! I have to agree with your husband, I am loving the stage Ellie is in now so much (although when we get a second I might enjoy the infant times more now that I know what to expect!) that I just want to keep looking forward. And yes I often think about Ellie learning to drive and being all grown up!

  8. I fully agree it just gets better and better, I haven't stopped agreeing with that sentiment. But there is some sadness knowing the baby phase is going to behind us for good, it's going so quick!
