We are in jammies all. the. time. #sorryimnotsorry
You might remember when we brought Kenley home from the hospital we also brought home Cami. Cami was Ashlynn's "big sister" present. Being that Ashlynn was 19 months old, she probably would have been fine without any ceremonious gift. As long as we continued to divide our attention and make her transition smooth, she surely didn't need a material possession to make her proud to be a sister or know that mommy and daddy still loved her as much as the new baby.
However, I still wanted to do something special for her. I actually longed to get her a Bitty Baby, but when it came down to it, didn't want to add that expense to all the things we already had to buy for the baby. I knew Ashlynn would think a doll is a doll whether $80 or $12.
So we brought home a Little Mommy doll in her own carseat, just like we did Kenley. And then we named her Cami (Cameron). The name that we almost gave Kenley. Ashlynn loved her immediately, just like her sister, but there were some periods of time where she would pass over her in favor of Mickey, Minnie, Annie, or Baby Alive (who still needs a name other than Baby).
Lately though, she's totally back in her little mommy phase and really into all of her dolls, especially Cami. Cami has become her baby and in true toddler fashion, she mimics all I do with Kenley on Cami. Which was the point from the beginning.
I had hoped I could keep her occupied during diaper changes or feeding sessions by asking her to change Cami or give Cami a bottle. And she does. She also always follows with burping ("pat pat") and using her sleeve to wipe any spit up - a true testament to copying her mother.
She's taken it a step further and lets Cami get tummy time, bumbo time, boppy time, and even makes Kenley take turns with her in the bouncer and swing. And of course, daily walks around the house in her toy stroller.
She's been found strapped in the high chair, the booster, and even the car seat. Oh, and she even potty trains on occasion.
She's been diapered and dressed, in Ashlynn's old preemie clothes no less, and even gets her bink at bed time. She truly has become part of the family. And while she's no Bunny (Ashlynn's lovey), she's Kenley's shadow. Wherever Kenley is, we know we can find Cami not too far behind!
