Maybe it was just this endless winter of polar vortices and snowstorms, but we pretty much live in jammies. I'll have to do a separate post about Ashlynn's jammie obsession, but I'm going to chat about the snuggly baby. Kenley babe is pretty much always in a sleeper or bodysuit and baby legs. With the amount of diaper changes and spit up episodes, she usually goes through two sometimes three outfits a day. And while I love an adorable sweater romper or cotton dress, they really aren't made to be washed a gazillion times, so the prettier and cuter clothes are 'special occassion' (read: leaving the house for an event other than errands) only. I'll probably start breaking out the more stylin' outfits once she's sitting on her own, I think that's when Ashlynn got a bit more style, too.
Ashlynn has a pretty standard morning routine if we don't have any plans. After her light turns yellow at 7am, she's allowed to climb into bed with me. The Husband has been studying for a professional certification and gets up around 5:30am and studies for 2 hours before getting ready for work. I try to keep the girls upstairs for a bit so he can get his work done without us distracting him. I get Ashlynn some milk and myself some coffee and usually end up nursing Kenley while I watch the Today show and Ashlynn plays 'games' (ie mostly educational toddler apps) on our Kindle Fire.
Her first need is her necessary cup of milk. We previously bought these Tommee Tippee Explora Drinking Cups to hopefully help Ashlynn transition from her sippy spout and straw cups to drinking from a regular cup, since there is no pronounced spout, just a raised rim. They are pretty much leak proof as long as you make sure you put the parts in the cap together correctly, so they've been a favorite of mine for that reason and pretty much the only way a sippy can be spared a trip to the recycle bin. And the new Animal Antics line, graciously sent to us by Tommee Tippee, has been a favorite of Ashlynn's, she asks for her Ellie cup almost daily, she loves her "phants". And since it's white it's the designated milk cup and she gets pretty upset if it ends up with water.
Speaking of water, she usually gets water in one these cups, especially if we are leaving the house. However, I grabbed two of these tumblers from Target earlier in the month for smoothies.
It's hard for Ashlynn to drink them from her sippies and I'm too nervous to give her anything without a lid. They were super cheap and are totally doing the trick. Even better, she's so obsessed with the straw and the fact it looks like mommy's cup that she's finally drinking more water. Girl had been on a water strike for a month or two, I think I talked about it in a monthly update, but now it's all become a game. Yay for hydration in style!

How I Met Your Mother. It's ending. Anyone as excited to see the finale as me? I'm actually watching the Inside The Actor's Studio with them right now. Definitely one of my few routine non-netflix'd shows.
Finally, a little sneak peek at the party planning progress.
Happy Friday!

Ashlynn is so cute! And YES I'm so excited to see the finale, I love that show!! I'm going to be sad when it ends, it was one of my favorites since Friends.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad HIMYM is ending but definitely excited for the finale!!! Do you have any toddler apps you would like suggest? We also have a Kindle Fire and I've been having trouble finding toddler approved educational apps. My daughter is 22 months. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a tough time too. She likes the animal and train puzzles by Pixel Envision (free) they actually got her to start doing real puzzles, she used to get frustrated and quit, now she can do them really fast. She likes the 22Learn toddler apps, they are free, and have parts you can pay for or use "points" so I've unlocked new parts. They are bit annoying for me to hear, but they have some good colors, letters, music, patterns, animals, etc. We have a free memory game with baby animals that she likes and is pretty good at and of course she loves the not so educational, but still not pointless Strawberry Shortcake bake shop (she gets to bake and decorate a cake) and Doc McStuffins app, she like the toy mix up game. Would love to hear your favorites!
ReplyDeleteOh and I downloaded Dr. Seuss ABC for long car rides, it reads the story and is interactive, figured it might helps with letter recognition.
Noah lived in sleeper one pieces too! Until Noah could sit up he didn't really have a neck and couldn't wear collars. Sleepers are just easier :). We too need to add more water! I saw those mason jar glasses at target and was tempted. We did get Noah a bunny straw cup and he seems to like it and is drinking more already! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe used our target bunny cup from last year all year, we love bunnies ;) And I find when they lay down they need to be in something that snaps or zips closed or else it just rides up. Once A was sitting and pulling up, it was so much easier to get her in cute jeggins or sweaters. I've already been spit up on 3x times this morning... one of few things I won't miss!
ReplyDeleteahhhh i just started watching HIMYM last week and i'm obsessed- already on season 7 ha. stopping by from the Five on Friday link up! Your blog is super cute :) Hope you check mine out as well!
ReplyDeleteThose jammies are so sweet (and the perfect thing to combat the neverending polar vortex!). I'm also loving the sneak peek of Ashlynn's party...looking forward to seeing how it all turns out!
ReplyDeleteHer birthday party is looking so cute! Can't wait to see the rest :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that is what we did with Sydney as well. She had reflux and we were constantly changing her. So cheaper Jammie's were our go to outfit unless we were leaving the house, and it got better at about six months, which was when her wardrobe got a little more stylish too!
ReplyDeleteHer party stuff looks so I cute! I can't wait to see it all come together!
Eek! Can't wait to see more party deets!!!
ReplyDeleteLove those sippy cups and cannot wait to see the Mermaid party come together!! ;)
ReplyDeleteWe started watching it after binging on the first 3 or 4 seasons and catching up in real time. It's definitely one of the few shows I like watching in syndication and still think is hilarious every time, like friends. I will definitely miss it!
ReplyDeleteI always see such cute dresses and outfits, but it's so much easier when they are actually moving a bit
ReplyDeleteSo very true!
ReplyDeleteWe actually only used them for smoothies once. I'm so happy she's finally drinking water again!
ReplyDeleteOoooh...now I want to go shopping! For the cups and for all the cute little girl clothes! New follower from Natasha's blog!
ReplyDeleteOh i need those little kid mason jars! They are too cute. :) Ashlynn looks so cute sitting at her table! I can't wait to see more about your party planning. I am going to start this weekend! I am so far behind already....
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie! Glad you found me :)
ReplyDeletehi! found your blog through the five on friday link up! i just snagged two of those "mason jar" cups for my little ones! when you wrote, "when the light turns yellow..." what were you talking about? do you have something set up in your daughter's room that helps her know when to get up or to stay in bed? sounds genius...please do share! i have two toddlers! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, so glad you found my little corner! And I totally forgot to link the clock! We have a Tot Clock, I wrote about it in Ashlynn's monthly check in last week in. The sleep section. A big two thumbs up for us!
ReplyDeleteLove the sneak peek of party fun! So fun!

Kaitlyn has those jammies too! I NEED to find those cups for the smoothies! Cups - it's a never-ending cycle isn't it? Happy Friday!

I love HIMYM!! Definitely one of the best shows ever. Those jammies you posted are super cute too! I'm on the hunt to find the best sippy for smoothies - I'll have to try out those ones from Target!
ReplyDeleteLove HIMYM and am sad to say goodbye to it! Also, Zoey uses those cups and they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThose mason jar style cups are so great! I love them. Your party planning looks like it's going amazing- I can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeleteLove those mason jars cups! Gonna have to get me some. Can't wait to see the whole party! And yes I love love love HIMYM!! So sad it's ending but all good things must end at some point I guess!
ReplyDeleteI am sort of happy they are making the spin off, just hope it's as good as the original. Definitely need the "friends" like show in my rotation, one just fills the void of the other!
ReplyDeleteThanks, although in honesty.. that's pretty much all I have for the party so far LOL!
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely a great smoothie cup, just not a great lets lay it sideways on the floor and walkaway cup ;)
ReplyDeleteOoooh excited to see the whole party! So cute.
ReplyDeletei better check out those cups stat! and can we talk about the cuteness that is going on with Ashlynn's bday party prep?! mermaids?! i die. Blair's favorite disney princess is currently Ariel. But I love that your party decor isn't cheesy disney. can. not. wait. for it to all come together! Eek!
ReplyDeleteAshlynn is still really into nemo, but likes her mermaid and Ariel books. I'm going to go character free as long as she lets me, which this might be the last time. :)
ReplyDeleteUmm I didn't know they were making a spin off! I will have to check that out...and yes I know what you mean!
ReplyDeleteNot with any of the current characters, but a new show "How I Met Your Dad" or father whatever... they already casted it, sounds like a good premise too, if it's the same writers I'm sure it'll be good!
ReplyDeleteGood idea on the Tommie Tippie cups/practicing for real cups. I need to add those to my list too. I've been trying to get one of the mini jar cups w/ straw but there were only red ones left :( I'm still on the hunt as our little guys NEEDS that in his Easter basket. :) Oh my gosh, the party stuff..!!!! How ADORABLE!! :) Is it weird I'm so excited to see Ashlynn's party..?!
ReplyDeleteOh ok. I will have to look into it. I did watch Friends With Better Lives the other night and it looks comical.
