Sweet Stuff

I'll be honest, I'm a borderline Valentine's Day hater.  Maybe not so much a hater, in the bitter breakup sense, as not a believer, in the it's a Hallmark Holiday way of thought.  The Husband and I have never celebrated with gifts, sometimes just using it as an excuse to have a nice dinner out.  Of course, nowadays, post children, it seems like just an excuse for some wine.

However, I want to have a home for the girls where they look forward to each holiday on the calendar and celebrating with their family, friends, and classmates. I used to love handing out my drug store Valentines and getting some extra candy from my parents.  Sometimes it's just the little things that can bring us the most joy.

I have a major weakness for buying Ashlynn (and now Kenley included) books for each holiday, so she already received her copy of Happy Valentine's Day, Mouse!  And despite my coaxing, she's still pushing it aside and placing preference on Happy Pumpkin Day, Mouse!

These picks would be great little pick me ups for your littles, significant others, home, or your just yourself (I'm referring to the cupcakes of course!)

  2. I always do books too. I just love seeing them grab them and sit down and look through them. Love the mug, too. Random question...just before Kenley was born you were in a wedding. Loved your dress. Do you remember the name of the dress maker? I am in a wedding and will be a few weeks away from delivering.

  3. It was Bill Levkoff style #778, I had to get it altered a bit, but was a great dress for a prego!

  4. Chris and I are the same way. We don't normally get each other anything for Valentines Day. But we will enjoy a really nice meal at home and maybe a glass of wine. But we love getting sydney something to wake up to. Holidays were huge in my family and I want that to carry on.

  6. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day with gifts either, really. If we exchange anything its usually flowers, home baked something, etc., but never a big gift. We do like to give Owen a gift though, usually a non-holiday book he can enjoy all year and a toy. This year we'll do all that at home on Friday and we're actually going out on a date Saturday night!

  7. I feel the same way! Dinner and/or wine sounds pretty good these days! And I love buying new books for the holidays, as well as making sure we look forward to them with Ethan here now. Adore your mood board!

  9. I'm not huge on valentines day mostly because everything is so expensive so we usually just eat at home. But I do want Ellie to enjoy the holidays as well and pass out valentines to her classmates when she gets older.

  10. I've never been a huge Valentine's Day fan myself. In college one year, my guy friend and I boycotted and played video games together all night - which is SO not my scene. My husband and I always go low key - usually we get takeout or eat at our favorite burger joint or something equally un-Valentiney, it's perfect!
