Introducing... BOY MOMS!

On Wednesdays We Wear... BLUE!

If you haven't noticed my weekly feature of girl love recently ended just in time to coordinate with the holidays (which both fell on Wednesday this year, erm, last year?).  Anyway, while I loved so much hearing from all the girl moms, I did always feel a bit guilty and exclusive to all the fabulous Boy Moms out there.  Luckily, reader Elizabeth reached out to me to tell me how much she loved the series, but was a boy mom herself.  So consider this a formal introduction to the new boy mom feature being hosted over Chasin' Mason!

Any and all Boy Moms out there looking to share their love of dirt, trains, and dinosaurs... or love of tea 'picnic' parties and superhero dress up (it's not all a girl thing!) feel free to contact Elizabeth ( to sign up!  I can't wait to read all about having mama lovin' sons of yours!

Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I am wife to Seth and mama to Mason and I blog over at Chasin' Mason. From the title of my blog, you are probably wondering why I am here, posting on Erinn's Girl Mom series. Well, I'll tell you! A couple weeks ago I contacted Erinn about her Girl Mom series. Oddly enough, I was having the opposite problem that she was having in her original Girl Mom series post where I had been seeing tons of girl mom stuff and no boy mom stuff. I asked her if she knew any boy mom's that had a boy mom series that I could participate in. She said she didn't but that I should create one. She was generous enough to let me spin off of her Girl Mom series into my own Boy Mom series.
I am here today to introduce myself and tell you why I love being a #boymom.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. My husband and I went to the OB for my 12 week ultrasound when the ultrasound tech said "do you guys want to know what you're having?"
I'm sorry, what??
I thought we couldn't find out until the 16 week appointment so I was beyond excited to know. I looked at my husband and before I think he even knew what was going on, I said "YES!" And she said...
"You're having a BOY! Congratulations!"
And BOOM! Just like that, I found out that I was going to be a BOY MOM!
It took a few minutes for the to fully register with me as I always assumed I would have a girl. I have two nieces. All of my brother-in-law's brothers have girls. Everyone I knew was having a girl. I am a girl, why wouldn't I have a girl baby? Oh how naive I was. I am ashamed to even admit this but I had a moment of "really? a boy? so that means no bows and dresses and everything pink?" but then it hit me (it takes you a little longer to get your moment of clarity when pregnant) that now I get to have fun dressing a BOY and girls! I have nieces so I can still buy all the girly, frilly stuff, but I have a boy to dress now too! Now the fun! And boy did I prove to myself how wrong I was. Boys have SUCH CUTE STUFF!

On July 18, 2012, I officially became a #boymom. The moment I saw his face and held him for the first time, I was in love. Beyond in love. I couldn't believe he was finally here and all mine.

Mason is now 17 months old and life couldn't be better. I went back to work when he was 10 weeks old, which was one of the hardest things I've ever done. His daycare provider is AMAZING though and sends me pictures often which makes it easier to be away. It's hard working full time and being a mom, but it just means that we have to take advantage of the time we do have together.

We have celebrated holidays, milestones, and his first birthday. He's graduated from purees to solids and formula to cow's milk. He's learned to sit, crawl, and walk. We've gone on vacations as a family of three.

We've gone to baseball games...

...and to Disneyland.

And there's so much more to come.

As he keeps getting older, I can't wait to share those special mother/son moments. But for now, since he is still little...

We go swimming.

We have picnics at the park and swing on the swings.

We watch Mickey and Jake, play with bubbles, Mega Blocks, and Lightning McQueen.
We read the Little Blue Truck before bed, and my personal favorite, we cuddle.
We have fun together!

My husband is over the moon that we have a boy. It is the cutest thing ever to see them together. Mason is so his mini me. He seriously cannot wait until Mason is old enough to play little league baseball. And to be honest...neither can I! We took him to his first Angels baseball game at 2 months old and he's been to several since then.

I love every minute as a boy mom and couldn't imagine my life any other way. Seeing him learn and grow and seeing his personality come out is the favorite part of my day. Every time he smiles at me, my heart melts a little more. Every time his faces lights up when he learns or does something new, my heart melts.
My favorite thing is hearing him laugh.

If you're a boy mom too and want to share your love for your boy, hop on over to my blog to check out the new series that I am hosting on Mondays. If you would like to share a post about you and your son, email me at . I would love to feature you!
