[Little Room #2] Slowest Progress Ever

Ok seriously, we need a bonfire of epic proportions placed under our asses, like last week, or last month.  Nursery progress has been close to nil.  I have been buying things and making a few design decisions in my head, but actual progress, close to zero.

We did receive our custom sheets and changing pad cover from Rocky Top Design.  Jayna also did Ashlynn's blackout curtains, which I was so thrilled with and still love love love to this day, I had to go back and use her again - what can I say, I'm a loyal customer.   Since Ashlynn doesn't use her crib skirt anymore with her mattress being fully dropped, I'm debating whether or not I want to re-purpose hers for Kenley's room.  I'm using it regardless, but not sure if I want to cover or replace the khaki fabric with something else.  I have two fabrics I'd use, but I don't hate the khaki.  It actually pulls in the color from her Hemnes dresser and doesn't draw attention.  I've never been one for a full out huge crib set.  Personally, we don't use bumpers so having the crib be the focal point isn't something I go for.  I'd rather it compliment room and your eye be drawn to the decor elements - which many are still TBD.

I did manage to get a "design element" up in the closet - seriously, I think I watch too much HGTV - and put up some gold dot decals. This is just a subtle effect since we plan to leave the doors off the closet.  Something to spruce up the space amongst all the tiny (for now) clothes.

Once the closet is finally fully installed, we have to cut the bars down to size, I can really go through Ashlynn's old clothes and figure out where we have gaps since the seasons will be off for the girls for the first 0-6 months.  I think I have some things, but not sure where we we are lacking most.

(almost all actual purchases or items being used so far)

Here's the to-do list

Finish installing closet
Hang clothes (aka, inventory and figure out what we need)
DIY - Recover lamp shade
DIY - some art
Hang gallery wall over dresser (finish getting frames and art)
Tray or Basket for diaper station caddy (wipes/lotions)
Hang curtain rods
Purchase and hang black out shades
DIY - Curtains (pom trim or paneled bottoms... or both?)
Buy Chair
DIY - Sew blankets and pillows with coordinating fabrics
Order side table
Ottoman ?
Hang corner shelf for monitor (set up)
Bring in bookcase from our room - style
Hang decor above bookcase
Figure out what is going over the crib - ASAP
Mobile??

I'm probably missing some things, but at least that's more than a start.

Oh and....

Dear Husband,  Get to work!

    1. Thanks! I'm so happy they still have this color, it wasn't out yet when we did A's room, so I'm glad we were able to have another chance to use it. Love it!

  5. I'm sure you'll get at least the things that are most important to you done before she comes, and even if you don't, it won't be the end of the world :) She'll be with you in your room for a while anyway!

  7. Just found your blog through the breastfeeding diaries and am following along on bloglovin'! I love this post! I have the Etsy shop saved as a favorite. Pretty excited about those blackout curtains! I ended up making our own but I think next go around I will just buy them. :) -Andrea www.handandtheheart.com

    1. Hi Andrea! And welcome, so glad you are following :) The curtains turned out wonderful, great craftsmanship and she was really helpful with the custom order. They were an investment, but without a crib bumper or set, I felt it was a trade off :)

  8. Your nurseries always turn out so cute and perfect. Where is the big white chair from? I'm looking for something similar for my sons room.

    1. Thank you! The chair is actually ikea! We will probably swap the rocker from A's room when she's old enough to need it, but we find we use it so much with Ashlynn still at this point and I didn't really start until 4-6months so we wanted to save some money and not end up with two nursery chairs.

  10. Ah yes, second time around for nurseries and....well, a lot of things....always seem to be slower! Life is just crazier with an existing child! Love it though, and it will surely turn out adorable even if it comes down to the wire.
