[Kid Tested, Mom Approved - Link Up!] Making Memories

And we're back!  Link Up Party Day 4, hosted by the lovely Emily of Dear Owen, and we are sharing our favorite ways to document our memories.   While my go to is my iPhone since it's always in my pocket, I do love getting shots with my fancy camera (that I just had to have because I was having a baby)  and while I haven't picked it up nearly enough this year, I was really good about it during Ashlynn's first year because her weekly pictures always made sure it was in my hands at least once a week.

I decided before her birthday it was time to get these images off my computer and put into her very first yearbook.  I chose Shutterfly because of it's simplicity, great lay outs and design options, and the pricing is affordable - especially if you wait for a great coupon code, they are always running a promotion.  (And I'm not being perked or sponsored by the company to say that, just my honest opinion!)

Of course, our actual album is much longer, but here are some of my favorite pages that we put together.  I also love that the layout I chose goes hand and hand with her Confetti Birthday Bash theme.

And of course, I had to add some collages of my favorite Instagrams from the year.  Some of these photos are more cherished than the ones taken on my DSLR.

  7. This is perfect! How long did it take to make the book? It overwhelms me thinking of sorting through a million pictures and then putting them into a book!

    1. I want to say it took me around 3 weeks or so, just working on it here and there at night while watching tv and still blogging/reading blogs, etc. (So could have been done faster if I sat and focused).

I pretty much know which pictures are my favorites, since I would use my favorites from each week in my weekly post and then later upload those ones to my FB album, so that helped me save time from having to go through all of them. The layouts are easy to use and there is a "story board" feature so if I knew I wanted a page dedicated to first food or the pumpkin patch I could set that aside with the pictures I wanted and then go back in fill in the rest with general snaps that I cherish.

    2. Thank you! This helps tons :) Maybe if I split it up over time it won't be so much of a mountain to climb ;)

  8. You are so good! I've only done Shutterfly books with professional pictures so far, but I need to sit down and start one with the every day pics--and I'm probably going to steal the confetti theme! ;)

  9. I've only done one Shutterfly book so far but it was so user friendly and I loved it! I need to get a game plan going about how to best organize the hundreds- thousands? of pictures I'm taking.
