Sisters

As a second child with an older brother, a baby sister is something I always wanted.   Getting a chance to live vicariously through my children is something that excites me for the days and years to come.

Sure there will be hair pulling, clothes stealing, name calling, tattle telling and, well, hitting... girls roughhouse too, but there will also be doll playing, hair styling, coordinating holiday outfits, cookie baking, boy band crushing, some serious back school to shopping (sorry husband), and a bond that I hope is unbreakable for their lifetime.

I know not all sisters grow up to be best friends, but the chance and opportunity that these two will have to lean on each other through thick and thin makes me smile.  Ashlynn has really been in a "mommy" phase feeding her dolls and animals her play food, pushing them around in a play stroller, and even putting them to bed - night night kiss included!  I can't wait to see her become a big sister as we all get to know little K.

... yes, little lady has a name.  Like Ashlynn, I'll probably share it before her birth since we call her by name and it just is natural for us.  Until then, you can find me looking for matching Christmas jammies.

  4. I have two older sisters and while I didn't understand our bond when I was young (they are 6 and 10 years older than me). They really are my besties now -I couldn't imagine my life without them! The bond of a sister is so special!

  6. I have a almost 5 and 1 year old. I am just in awe of their sweetness together. Especially with my son who really is protective and sweet to his little sister.

  7. It's so exciting that Ashlynn will have a little sister! My sister and I are 13 months apart, and we were really close growing up and still close as adults (aka we talk on the phone every day). There is really no bond like that of a sister. We have a brother too, and we love him dearly, but there is no one who quite understands you like a sister.

  10. One of our good friends just had a second girl and her older daughter is SO sweet with her. She's really into dolls too which I think helps. Ethan, on the other hand, was super jealous! Maybe it's his age but I think we're in trouble!! ;)
