[Baby #2] It's A.....

First things first, our baby appears to be healthy as far as an ultrasound can show so we are on Cloud 9! A boy or girl truly would be a blessing either way and we'd look forward to raising either.  Like Ashlynn, we had our ultrasound technician place the sex in a card and envelope I brought to the appointment (one for the baby book!) and we waited to find out together where we could celebrate as a family.

With Ashlynn, we waited days!  I had my best friend take the card and go shopping for clothing for our new baby.  We loved opening our presents at midnight on New Year's revealing we were having a girl.  This time around I wanted to do something different and more immediate.  We thought about getting a cake or cupcakes, but since our appointment was in the afternoon we weren't sure if they'd be ready for pick up the same day before closing.  We also wanted something a little more unique.

Since we already knew what paint colors we were going with for boy or girl, we took advantage of Sherwin Williams 40% paint sale (today thru monday) and went straight to the store after our appointment.  Promptly handed over the sealed envelope to the paint man and told him which colors we wanted for each sex and asked for him to skip swatching the can or placing a label on it.  He put the receipt and label in the envelope and we headed home.

After waiting, oh, maybe 30 minutes to eat some snacks with A, we couldn't wait any longer.  To the nursery we went.

Vaguely Mauve it is!  We almost weren't sure since it looks a little gray like we picked for a boy, but there was no denying the lavender tint... or confirmation in the original envelope congratulating us on our girl!

We are thrilled, and I think Ashlynn is too!  I can't wait to experience having two little girls, sisters.

...but that's enough for a Friday night, we are off to celebrate with whiskey and chocolate milkshakes.  Separately, of course.  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

  4. Congratulations on your healthy baby! There is no better feeling in the world than to know the baby you're growing is a healthy one :)

You are so creative -- I never would have thought to do a gender reveal with paint colors -- pretty much the funnest idea I have ever heard!

I have a younger sister and she is my best friend. Sure, there were many years that we were not close, but ever since high school we have been each others best confidant, shoulder to cry on, to vent to and to share fun with! I am so happy for Ashlynn to have that in her life!
