[Wednesday's Weekly Check-In] Week 51

Doing great.

Also, great.  Sleeping through the night, though she has been waking around 5:30 the last 4 days, that's a bit rough.  Her naps are pretty stellar.  At least 60 minutes, if not pushing 2 hours.

Really wearing a lot of her 12-18, hoping to stock up on some jams and more t's.  We are both over onesies.  Also contemplating the idea of shorts... it's been so warm this week and she doesn't have any. I like the leggings and jeans since she still does crawl a bit, it's nice to have her knees covered up.  Although the idea of shorts cracks me up because her legs are so short, I'm dying to see if they fit like capris!

Over the weekend we traveled to NJ to visit friends who just welcomed their first baby boy.  Ashlynn was so good sitting next to me while I held Baby O.  Little baby fever kicking in holding such a tiny squishy baby!

Yesterday, my dad (Bopo), stopped by to visit and see the house for the first time.  Ashlynn had fun showing Bopo all her favorite books and showing him around her playroom.

The rest of the week we've been enjoying the weather as much as we can, including getting ready to go to the store and then starting my car and seeing "key not detected" and realizing I locked us out of the house.  At least I had the stroller to walk the neighborhood as we waited for the Husband to come save us.

More and more of our food.  Eating full out eggs.  Started with just yolk and now we are sharing a scrambled egg in the morning.  I'm also starting the weaning the process.  I'm trying to cut to 3 sessions a day and A seems to have zero problem with that.  She barely seems to miss a beat that we've gone a stretch from 5:30am to 1pm to 7pm.

I called her pedi and GI doctor to ask about what I should be supplementing with.  Being that she is a week out from her birthday, it seems silly to get her adjusted to formula to just switch again. She was scheduled for her Whole Cows Milk (WCM) challenge next Monday.  Her pedi said just try WCM, or soy or almond, rice, whatever.  I'd like to skip rice since there isn't much nutritional value and I was surprised to hear that almond wasn't an allergy risk.  Her GI's PA told me I had to buy the special not over the counter formula.  I'll be following the pedi's lead.  She's going to get an ounce or two of almond milk today and see how she transitions.

Last Friday we hit up Olly.  I wanted her to get sized for shoes and ask "when do I have her start wearing them?"  I wasn't sure if she should be steady walking, or just almost there like she is now.  Soft shoes or hard with support?  She recommended softer soles with traction like Pediped or See Kai Run. The associate said that some children can be deterred by the harder soles and that if we wait too long to get her used to shoes that she could fight wearing them.  So I ordered this pair... in size 6-9 for her newborn feet.  She's definitely has better balance in them, but doesn't seem crazy about wearing them while walking yet.

Walking.  Like real walking.  She still doesn't stand up in the middle of room and walk away, but she will walk from toy to toy or to and object out of her reach.  It's pretty hard getting video by myself, but here's a half way decent one.

She also climbed 5 stairs all by herself before I pulled her down.

Oh and this isn't a milestone, but it's developmental.  If you ask where her belly/belly button is she points to her stomach.  She "blows" a kiss (by sticking her fingers in her mouth and pulling it out).  And she also said "ball".  It's amazing how fast this is all happening!

...and yes, I realize we have one more week to go.  I'm not ready to talk about it.

  1. Wow only one more week... Man it goes by quickly! Yay for walking! She really is adorable!

    1. Thank you! and yes, it truly flies ::tear::

  2. That first picture - LOVE! She is too cute!

  3. I have been following your blog for a while now...Ashlynn is absolutely beautiful! My son is just a month younger than her, so it has been interesting to have the foreshadowing of what is to come as I am read your posts. They grow so fast...good luck with the party, can't wait to see pics! :)

    1. I also love reading blogs with children just ahead of Ashlynn or families with more than one kids, it's like a peak at the future! Thanks for reading! (feel free to send a pic of your son if you'd like me to post for ashlynn's 'virtual' party)

  4. I just found your blog! Love to read mommy blogs! My son, Carter will be one on May 7th. I'm trying to wean to 3 feedings a day too. It's not going as well as it seems to be for you... And we went to Olly a few weeks ago and got his first pair of pedipeds. They're great. Looking forward to seeing the party details!

    1. So glad you found me! Weaning definitely has it's obstacles and we've hit a few this week. And Olly was such a huge help, I love cute little toms and pumas, but glad I got her something that'll will help her transition to those!
