Prepping for Paddy's

This year there isn't much prepping going on for our (3rd) annual St. Patty's Day party.  Instead, we are in a mad rush to have a floor to stand on and a working fridge and stove in the kitchen - not the family room and dining room.

So instead of posting all my little projects, I thought I'd recap some of my additions from years past.  Hopefully next week I'll recap.

First up, naturally is the food and booze... we are Irish!

I try to stick to foods to pick at since most people prefer to graze in between their pints of Guinness.  Irish cheese, orange, green, and white veggies, and of course green guacamole and spinach dip.  We usually have some crowd favorites like buffalo chicken dip, mozzarella sticks, crab dip, tomato pie, and jalepano poppers.

As for booze, we always get a case of two of Guinness and then our guests usually bring a 6 pack since we started out as a Beer Tasting party.  There is also Irish Whiskey and Irish Creme on hand too!  Last year, I made this non-alcoholic Leprechaun Punch since almost all the women were pregnant.  Maybe we'll spike it this year and go back to virgin when the kids are old enough to join in.  It was delicious!

Lastly, I still decorate the house with a mix of DIY creations and things I've collected over the years from Target, Homegoods, and Etsy.

Pennants, poms, cupcake flags, wooden signs, ice bucks, paper straws, the list goes on.  This year I'm adding some party favors for the kiddos, garlands, and other home decor that might just stay up longer than March 17th.

Do you do anything big for St. Patricks Day?  Any traditions?  Do you do it big for any other special holidays?
