[Wednesday's Weekly Check-In] Week 24

Weight:

16+, but the last few days she's been nursing pretty frequently, so maybe a growth spurt?

Health:
All seems well.  Diapers are looking normalish, a bit a rash, but I think she's back to having some crazy teething pain.  Chewing lots and fussy periods.  Just want those suckers to pop through (the the molar that's been bothering her to go away!)

Sleep:
Well things were getting good, then started getting worse.  It's like we have one good night, then one bad.  Naps are mess mainly because she won't stay asleep longer than 20-40 in the crib, so we play the game of try a nap, get 30 minutes, try to get her back to sleep, after being in the crib for about an hour quit attempt, play, about 40 min to an hour later see tired signs and try again.  Rinse, Repeat.  I think I've also got her hooked on nursing to sleep (which I don't mind at night as long as I can transfer her to the crib without a freakout and if she sleeps long enough) and normally by the afternoon for naps if she didn't get much in the morning, I let her sleep on me in the afternoon to catch up.  Terrible habit, but I refuse to let her have crappy naps and then a crappy night because of it.

Clothes:
3-6

Social:
Had a visit with Nana and Pop Pop on Saturday.  Went house hunting on Sunday! And got to see Auntie Abby on Monday.

Diet:
Milk.  She's been nursing almost every two hours the past two days.  I'm not sure if it's because she's having a growth spurt, is trying to catch up her intake since I'm only feeding her once or twice at night (roughly 11pm and 4am) depending on when she's waking, or if my supply is dropping and she's just trying to get more - I haven't been getting proper calories or water, working on fixing this.

Baby Gear Love:
Again, like last week with the dogs, no real gear this week.  This week she is loving grabbing my face and my neck when being carried.  It starts as an adorable hug, then turns to a terrible death grip pinch.

She is also a HUGE fan of peek-a-boo.  Like seriously, freaking loves it.

And we got her high chair.

Crying:
Teeth seem to be bothering her and she's back to not really putting herself to sleep on her own unless totally wiped out.  She's also starting to get some separation anxiety when not in my arms.

Milestones:
Her highchair came last week so I put it together and now let her sit in it for a bit with some toys when I'm cooking or cleaning up in the kitchen.  She seems to be a big fan.  She's starting to hate the Rock N Play and being reclined and just wants to be upright all the time even though she can't sit yet without assistance.  We've been working on it a lot with the boppy and she's getting stronger.  Every day she can sit for longer with less wobbles, but I know it'll probably be awhile before she can fully do it.  Still it makes her look like such a big girl!

  1. Can I please have her skin? I mean, seriously. Beautiful. Sleep issues!RAWR! Isn't it so frustrating? You can do everything right and consistent and it can still be effed up. By the time you are done, you will be able to write a doctoral dissertation on this shit.
ps...can't wait to pinch those baby biceps.

  3. She's so adorable. You can tell she just loves life. Don't you love that about babies?? i've had issues with my milk supply and trying to make sure I eat enough as well. I've got some good recipes for muffins that are great for a quick grab and go and they freeze well. You can find them here: http://thisyounglifethisyounglove.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-two-fer-apple-muffins-pumpkin-berry.html Dairy free too! If you want more calories, use oil instead of applesauce/pumpkin. Also here: http://thisyounglifethisyounglove.blogspot.com/2011/09/delicious-breakfast-ideason-go.html (take out the yogurt & add applesauce or pumpkin or something of the like). And I was a big fan of lactation cookies: http://thisyounglifethisyounglove.blogspot.com/2012/07/milk-cookies.html (instead of butter to avoid dairy/soy use oil or again applesauce). I hope this helps! It's a battle to keep that supply up and the toughest part is truly knowing if there's an issue. I never know with Finn...

    1. Thanks for the links!! It's just so hard to know if its a supply issue or just a growth spurt or comfort nursing since she's been in pain. I don't really ever pump, so I have no baseline!

  4. She is so stinkin' cute! That purple top looks fabulous on her. Trying to eat enough while nursing has been hard for me too. I sometimes wish I had that appetite I had while pregnant.

    1. I swear sometimes I'm MORE hungry now! The problem is the ease of a dairy/soy filled diet. Being MSPI means it just takes a bit longer to prepare fresh foods, and with a baby, time is not on my side! I try to bake breads and muffins to grab quickly, but that's not really full of nutrition.

  5. Such a cutie! I tried to add you on facebook today (don't think I'm a stalker please) but it wouldn't let me :( I usually don't add fellow bloggers that I dont know myself but I love keeping up with you and your babe since our girls are so close in age! Honestly I was wondering if we had mutual friends because I found your blog through a friend of mine awhile back :)
