Real Deal and Awesome Steals: Tiered Tops

I've noticed in my bloggerhood it seems a lot of fashionistas are obsessed with Anthropologie's Free Flow tank.  I have to admit, this would definitely be a "must try on" for me because of the tiers and neckline, but after seeing it on Kim at Anthroholic and Chloe at The Chloe Conspiracy I do think it's totally workable.

However, I have a thing where I don't like having what everyone else has... This started many years ago in 5th grade when all the girls on my soccer team went out and got a pair a Adidas Sambas... having to be 'different' I got a pair of Diadora Maracanas

This pattern continued into high school and college and still holds true I suppose.. (I could give so many other examples, but it'd actually be quite embarrassing reliving my middle school and high school fashion disasters)

So for my next installment of Real Deal and Awesome Steals... Here is the Real Deal Free Flow Tank from Anthro....
Free Flow Tank - Anthropologie $78

My criteria for same look 'steals' included the following:
- Horizontal layered tiers
- Wide straps (not spaghetti, halter or racer back versions)
- Straight across or scoop necklines (no v-neck or sweetheart)

Here's my closest match!
French Connection Angela Pleats Top - Piperlime $94.99

And here are the other options....
Tiered Shell (in Dark Dusty Teal) - Loft $49.50

J.Crew's version is a little more weathered looking with the tattered silk and double the amount of tiers.  Personally, I feel like this looks like the Free Flow top has gone through the shredder... For $129.99 (on sale?!) this is an option I'll be passing on....
Tattered silk-cotton tank - JCrew $129.99

This Chelsea Flower top doesn't have the coveted tiered layers, but the ruffles, wide straps, and neckline still give this top a Free Flow feel...
Chelsea Flower Ruffle Trim Top - Bluefly $69.99
Design History Pleated Tiered Tank (black) - Bluefly $39.99

Same as above but in royal blue...
Design History Pleated Tiered Tank (Grape Royal) - Dillard's $20.70

And similar to the blue (grape royal??) one above, but with a closer matched neckline....
Kensie Girl Lt. Wt. Top - Swell $30

Lastly, mixing the tiers with this spring's trend of florals...
BB Dakota Floral Print Ruffle Top - South Moon Under $60

Are you sold on the 'Tiered' top look??  Do you have another look-a-like?? Please share in the comments!

  1. I LOVE anything tiered, ruffled, uber-feminine etc etc :) And I love that all of these tops have wide straps...having a bigger bust means spaghetti straps look a little weird on me, imo. Great post!

  2. I agree about the ruffles/tiers SweetTea. I think the ruffle, rosette, tiered trends have inspired me to actually dress like a girl :)

Having a smaller bust, the straight across neckline and wide straps intimidated me, but after seeing it on other bloggers I definitely think it'd still be cute. I think it's a nice detail change you wouldn't expect....

  3. I like all of these! The Anthro one is pretty awesome though :)

  4. Andi, the Anthro one is totally growing on me... I have an event later in the spring that I think it'd be perfect for - that is if I can find the perfect pair of jeans for it :)
