Hawaiian Honeymoon Adventure: Day 3

Wednesday was an action packed day. We started at 9am with Kayak Wailua, a group kayak trip that travels 2.5 Miles up the Wailua River (on the east side of the island). After the kayaking, we hiked 1 mile to Secret Falls.

We sat on some "falling" rocks and ate our BYO picnic lunch.

After refueling with our PB&J and Doritos, we took a swim in the waterfall.

Then our tour guide hiked us back to where we docked our kayaks and we paddled the 2.5 miles back to van. The weather was beautiful and it was such a fun activity.

We got back to the condo, where Pete watched the Phillies and I got ready for our Luau dinner/show.

We chose to go to Smith's Luau. Smith's Luau takes places on 30 garden acres on the Wailua River. The luau starts with a tour of the grounds, which are incredible. There are all sorts of trees, plants, birds, animals, etc.

After the tour, the Imu Ceremony is performed where they pull the pig out of the underground oven. Then they seat everyone for a buffet dinner and lots of Mai Tai's. We actually decided to try the pig, I had some, Pete probably had a plate. It was pretty good, but the sweet & sour Mahi Mahi was delicious... and as for the Poi - gross.

After dinner, they started the show. The show is a compilation of performances reviewing the history of Hawaii's people. They do a performance for each culture that represents the Hawaiian islands - Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Philippines, New Zealand, China and Japan. The stage is awesome and even has an "erupting" volcano. It was really entertaining and cool to get a little bit of the history of the islands, its people and culture.
