Hawaiian Honeymoon Adventure: Day 1

Like I mentioned when I last left off, we didn't get too much sleep. Since Hawaii is 6 hours behind the East Coast, we were up and at them by 6am... but don't feel bad for us we got to see our first (of many) sunrises.

After drinking some coffee with non-dairy creamer ::shutters:: we decided we go out, find a quick breakfast, then go shopping to stock up the condo with breakfast, lunch, and snacks... and obviously, real creamer. We drove along the coastline, and found Brennecke's Deli and got two Breakfast Burritos... eggs, cheese, salsa, guac, and sour cream - a true Breakfast of Champions. We decided we'd take in Paradise and eat them across the street at a picnic table at Poipu Beach Park.

Day 1 is off to a great start...

After driving 30 minutes to Lihue, only to realize the Costco didn't open until 9 (it was 830), we headed back to Poipu and just hit the Big Save. We unloaded our cereal, pb&j, doritos -which became a honeymoon staple, a jug of water, some beer and wine, natch, and we headed to the beach outside the condo.

sweet sunglasses, bra...

Since my new husband has a baking limit of 1 hour (and that's with the SPF 70), we checked out the Grand Hyatt which was right next door to our condo and "shared" the beach with us. The resort is pretty incredible, so we walked around as if we were guests taking pictures and gawking at the ridiculousness of it all.

This is the entrance, you walk in and its like seeing a gigantic picture of paradise... - except for that, its real
salt water pool with a white sand beach...

and have you ever seen a black swan with a red beak before???

After adventuring next door, we headed back to the condo... had some previously mentioned doritos and beer and got ready for our first romantic night out as Husband and Wife. We went to The Beach House (stalk the menu please http://www.the-beach-house.com/) for a sunset dinner. This, in my opinion, was the best meal of the trip.

Oh, you want to know what we ate?? Sure, I'll let you drool for a while.

Appetizer: Shittake-crusted Mussels
black bean sauce, ginger lime beurre blanc, tobiko

Entree 1: Truffle-crusted Ono (Waloo) & Grilled Tiger Prawns
sundried tomato beurre blanc, garlic mashed potatoes & stir fried vegetables

Entree 2: Wasabi-crusted Snapper
lilikoi lemongrass beurre blanc
Dessert: Molten Chocolate Desire

Oh, I'm sorry, you meant you wanted to see pictures of sunset view?? Sure, just make sure you pick your jaw off the floor when you're done. :)

look at that left hand shine!

in awe.... (with the waiter describing our entree's )

flourless chocolate mocha tart, baked to order & served hot with Lappert's vanilla bean ice cream & espresso creme anglaise

cheers to sunsets... and good wine... and love and all that stuff....

oh, its not over yet... we are just getting to the good part...

you didn't think we'd miss the photo op, did you?
